Shailputri Foundation, established in 2021, located in Srinagar (Garhwal), Distt. Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, a northern state of India, is a sister entity and extended arm of the Global Synergetic Foundation, New Delhi. It is necessary to know the base of naming and location of Shailputri Foundation for the proper understanding of its vision and mission. The word ‘Shailputri’ is a combination of two terms ‘Shail’ and ‘Putri’ which means ‘the daughter of Mountain’. As per cultural background of India, the word has the reflection of a mountain woman having qualities of high level of consciousness, hard-work, creation, positive attitude and determination for high aspirations and values of life. However, the word ‘Shailputri’ is also the first name of Devi Durga, ‘Devi’ means a giver or provider, who known as Prakriti (Nature), Maa (mother) according to Indian scriptures. That’s why as a noun, ‘Shailputri’ is a special term having above qualities. After the brief explanation of choosing name, this is also important to highlight the peculiarities of location of foundation. As per location, the heart of Garhwal region, Srinagar, is situated on the bank of river Alaknanda in the ‘Holy-Himalaya’. As per historical facts, being the olden capital of Garhwal kingdom, it is an ancient township having popularity for Indian culture, spirituality, Hindu-pilgrimage, literature, various arts and a series of socio-historical events etc. It is also known as the Tapasthali of great Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya and Mahayogi Gorakhnath etc. Of course, with these inspirations, Shailputri Foundation has a great spirit to support creative people in the fields of Arts, Literature, Philosophy and Indian tradition etc. Shailputri Foundation is devoted to work for the promotion of Indian traditions, arts and culture.

We know that the ‘Education’ is a continuous process of socio-economic development of a person along with integral progress. With this view, Shailputri Foundation is dedicated to work for education. It will publicize and promote the integrated knowledge through ICT, skill development, awareness, audio-visual media as well as through traditional methods by construction and running of schools, colleges, education institutions, and centers of advanced learning and research. It will develop and support educational, cultural, vocational and social institutions in all over India. The foundation will develop a hub which will be dedicated to creating a network with literary, scientific, political or economic organizations or similar citizen groups in all over the world. Obviously, it will establish & manage medical colleges, clinical laboratories, hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries and institutions of similar nature and providing financial assistance to the deserving persons for medical treatment, in any medical institution.

The foundation, further, will provide grants, scholarships, fellowships and other forms of financial assistance to the needy and deserving for pursuing education including professional education, vocational training, skill development etc. It will dispense award prizes, medals, awards sponsorships etc. to deserving and promising individuals, entities and institutions. However, the foundation will print, publish and circulate books, articles, newsletters, journals, bulletins, pamphlets and posters.

As steps of its educational efforts, the foundation will try to train and educate policy makers of India including future policy makers and others in matters related to good policy formulation and implementation. The foundation will invite eminent speakers from various walks of life to address forums on issues of social, cultural, literary, scientific, economic and religious importance. In addition, the foundation will act as a forum for policy, strategy, and leadership development maximizing equal freedom for every Indian citizen, subject to individual accountability and compliance with democratic norms.

It should be highlighted that, as an entity, we follow the ideology of ‘think globally, act locally’. Of course, it is a matter of local concern, that the Indian moral values, culture and civilization is existing through the survival of its villages as per famous saying ‘Bharatmata Gramvasini’; i.e., the soul of Bharat (India) is alive in its rural areas. Thus, with this ideology, the foundation will be devoted to work for rural development, safe drinking water, water resource management, HYV, seed development, modernization of cultivation and dairy for

white revolution and for the welfare, education, health and prosperity of Tribes, traditional artisans etc. in remote, rural & tribal areas. We know that disasters are also a destructive reality. Keeping in mind, the foundation will try to promote, develop and popularize knowledge of disaster management, renewable energies and development of ways to protect Mother Nature and the Mother Earth with special orientation to rural and backward areas.

As a matter of high aspirations and moral values, there must be a shelter for the people who do not have any family or social support for their sustainability. Thus, Shailputri Foundation is dedicated to establishing, manage, maintain old age homes, homes for physically challenged men, women and children and persons with similar disabilities and train to make them self-reliant and for granting financial assistance to institutions performing similar activities.
